The CIRS Protocol: A Sequential, Evidence-Based Treatment for Biotoxin-Associated Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome

Abstract

CIRS is a complex, multisystem illness driven by sustained innate immune activation following exposure to biotoxins in water-damaged buildings and other environmental sources. This paper describes the 12-step therapeutic framework addressing environmental assessment, internal biotoxin removal via bile acid sequestrants, and targeted correction of dysregulated biomarkers including hormone levels, complement factors, and inflammatory cytokines. When implemented in the prescribed sequence with precision, the CIRS Protocol results in measurable biomarker normalization and clinical resolution in most compliant patients.
