Abstract

ABSTRACT The in vitro activity of recombinant lysostaphin was tested against a collection of well-characterized clinical Staphylococcus aureus isolates by disk diffusion (429 isolates) and minimum bactericidal concentration (10 isolates) assays. Minimum bactericidal concentrations of 0.16 μg/ml and zones of inhibition ranging between 15 and 21 mm in diameter demonstrate that lysostaphin was highly active against all isolates tested.
